Plunge.
Fried plantains, jollof rice, fufu, peanut butter soup...you name it. My teammates and I spent our afternoon plunging into Ghana's culture. We were sent into downtown Chicago to an authentic Ghanaian restaurant, where we ordered some recommended dishes from previous Ghana teams and really, whatever looked good. After asking the waitress how to eat fufu a couple of times (basically a ball of dough you pull pieces from and dip into a variety of soups) we successfully finished our first Ghanaian meal, stuffed. We then headed over to Presbyterian Church of Ghana and worshiped with their congregation. They were incredibly welcoming and it was great to be a part of their service, which was done in a mix of English and Twi (a native language of Ghana). Following the service they invited us to chat, ask questions, answer their questions, and, per their request, take pictures with them. We learned a few words and sentences in Twi, and gained some insight from the Pastor (born and raised in Ghana) into Ghanaian culture and tradition. All in all, the day was an awesome experience.
Thank you to all who have been praying for us. Your love and support means the world to me!

Hi Ally,
ReplyDeletecool blogspot, nice Honduras vid, glad you received my letter reminising about Smashing Pumpkins so many lifetimes ago. Oh...and thank you for your thank you letter. I never know when the thanking chain stops, but maybe that's a good thing. But just so you know, you don't have to thank me for thanking you for the thank you letter thanking me for the first letter. See what I mean!!! Oh sheesh... Anyway, have a nice trip. I'll check in with you a little later after I get out of this silly mood. I like silly moods, but that's another subject. And be sure to pack some Kaopectate for your trip. Hey, are you 'ghana' be able to visit this blog spot when you're in Ghana?
Hugs, Gary
